Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1

You will be collected from the airport or your nominated accommodation in Queenstown this morning. Depending on the time available and your personal preferences, you can choose one of two options for your private transfer to The Lindis. If you're feeling active, enjoy a guided hike on the Isthmus Peak Track which overlooks Lake Wānaka, Lake Hāwea and the Southern Alps. This challenging 16km return hike winds up steep, rocky switchbacks to a skyline ridge with spectacular panoramic views at the top where you'll enjoy a picnic lunch before returning via the same track. If you'd prefer a more relaxed pace, enjoy scenic private touring en route to the Lindis with photo stops and a gourmet lunch and wine tasting near Wanaka. After settling into your unique mirrored Eco Pod at The Lindis, make the most of the scenic surroundings with a self-guided walk around the property, or perhaps relax by the fireplace in the guest lounge with a drink.

Day 2

After a hearty breakfast this morning your guide will meet you for a scenic drive across MacKenzie country into Aoraki-Mt Cook Valley and National Park. On arrival, you will explore the Hooker Valley Track, a three-hour return walk past glacier-fed rivers to Hooker Lake with Mt Cook (New Zealand's highest peak) providing a constant backdrop. For an extra special experience, opt for a private heli flight back to the Lindis with spectacular aerial views of Mt Cook and the Ahuriri Valley on the way to your accommodation (additional cost applies). Tonight, relax in the deep bathtub on your deck before heading to the main lodge for evening canapes with drinks and dinner in the impressive dining room overlooking the valley.

Day 3

After waking to panoramic valley views from your pod, stroll to the main lodge for breakfast this morning. Your guide will meet you a bit later for a scenic drive taking you further into the valley, where you will commence the Canyon Creek walk. This full-day guided hike is moderately challenging, rising steadily through beech forest to an impressive view into the canyon. You'll enjoy a trail lunch and - if you're feeling brave - a quick dip in the icy river before returning to the lodge late this afternoon. Depending on your preferences and difficulty level, you may choose an alternative private hike today such as the Dingle Burn Saddle, Mt Ben Avon Track or a more leisurely walk exploring the alpine meadows of the Ahuriri Valley. Enjoy drinks and dinner in the Great Hall this evening, before returning to your Eco Pod for another relaxing soak in your deep bathtub under the stars.

Note: If preferred, a shorter walk or scenic touring option is available today.

Day 4

Today is yours to do as much or as little as you wish. Stay in bed a little longer, or relax on your outdoor deck with a coffee, taking in the peaceful silence and expansive valley views before heading to the main lodge for a leisurely breakfast as you contemplate the day ahead. Staff are on hand to help you plan the perfect day based on your preferences. Choose from a range of self-guided hikes across farm and nature trails around the property and explore the wetlands, tussock-covered hills, beech forest and sub-alpine herb fields of the Ahuriri Valley and Ben Avon Station. Other options you may consider include an alpine picnic or outdoor BBQ in a secluded location, a private heli or 4WD tour, a high country horse ride, an e-bike ride along the river and valley trails or an indulgent massage or spa treatment (additional costs apply). Complete your day with another delicious dinner featuring locally sourced or harvested produce and perfectly paired wines.

After breakfast this morning, there is time for a 90 minute stroll around Lake Lindis or to the Amphitheatre by the Ahuriri River, both accessible by foot directly from the lodge. Late morning your driver will collect you for the two-hour transfer back to Queenstown, stopping along the way at one of Bannockburn's great vineyards for a private tasting of Central Otago's famous Pinot Noir; a fitting way to toast the end of your South Island adventure.
