Overview

Commencing in San Carlos de Bariloche, Argentina, travel across the border to Puerto Varas in Chile via scenic lake cruises and comfortable overland bus journeys. Sail by catamaran across picturesque Northern Patagonia lakes with the Andes Mountains and ancient forests as your constant companions. On the way, enjoy an overnight stay at Hotel Puerto Blest on the shores of Lago Nahuel Huapi, where you'll have the opportunity to explore the surrounding walk trails, or simply relax in the unique Patagonian wilderness setting. The next morning following a short sail on beautiful Lago Frías and passing through border control at Puerto Frías, the Chilean portion of the journey begins with a scenic bus ride to the small village of Peulla. After lunch, it's back on the water, travelling across Lago Todos los Santos to Petrohué where you have the option to continue by private ground transfer to Hotel AWA in Puerto Varas or enjoy one last lake crossing to Puerto Montt.

Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1

Following a short transfer from San Carlos de Bariloche to Puerto Pañuelo, board Gran Victoria by 10 am. Sit back, relax and enjoy the hour-long journey to Hotel Puerto Blest as the catamaran travels across picturesque Lake Nahuel Huapi. Upon arrival, there's time for an optional self-guided walk to Los Cántaros Waterfalls before a delicious lunch with fellow guests at the hotel. The afternoon is then yours to enjoy at your leisure. Discover more of the unique wilderness through a range of short nature trails, join new friends for sunset drinks on the outdoor terrace, or unwind in the dedicated relaxation area or guest lounge. Complete the evening with a delicious Patagonian-inspired meal in the hotel's restaurant.

Day 2

After breakfast, there's a short bus ride along the River Frías towards Puerto Alegre where you'll board the Victoria del Sur. Take in the beautiful views as you sail across Lake Frías. Upon disembarking in Puerto Frías, pass through border control before hopping on the bus for a scenic journey through the Andes Mountains to the Chilean village of Peulla. After lunch, board Lagos Andinos for a pleasant cruise across Lago Todos los Santos, where you'll enjoy spectacular views of the Osorno and Puntiagudo volcanoes and the Cerro Tronador if conditions are good. You'll then disembark in Petrohué for the bus transfer to Puerto Varas. Alternatively, we recommend continuing your journey with our Chilean Lakes & Volcanoes extension, which includes a stay at the impressive Hotel AWA.
