Each day you'll have the opportunity to join a variety of offshore excursions that venture deeper into the vast Kimberley wilderness, with the day's itinerary determined by the weather and tide conditions. If you'd prefer to relax, we recommend a luxurious soak in the spa on the sundeck, taking in the magnificent scenery. All meals are included and freshly prepared by the ship's chef - you may even see your catch of the day on your plate. Location & Access

The cruise commences in Broome, with guests departing the ship at Hunter River by helicopter and returning to Broome via a scenic light aircraft flight. Road and air transfers are included to and from Broome as per the itinerary. This journey is also available in the reverse direction, commencing with a scenic flight from Broome to the Mitchell Plateau. Direct flights to Broome are available from Kununurra, Darwin, Perth and some capital cities in Australia.

Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Broome - welcome aboard

You'll be collected from your Broome accommodation and transferred to the Kimberley Quest II, where you will be welcomed on board by the captain and crew. Relax with a drink as you watch the sun dip below the horizon with the famous Cable Beach behind you. Meet fellow guests over a delicious dinner prepared by the onboard chef as the ship heads to Cape Leveque.

Day 2: Buccaneer Archipelago

After a restful sleep in your ensuite cabin, this morning will find the ship crossing the vast King Sound, cruising through the thousands of islands of the Buccaneer Archipelago. Take a tender excursion for a spot of exploration, and have a go at fishing before unwinding on the sundeck, taking in the beautiful scenery.

Day 3: Dugong Bay, Talbot Bay, Horizontal Falls

Cruise in and around Dugong Bay by tender and cool off with a refreshing swim in one of the freshwater pools. Around the corner lies Talbot Bay, home to one of the icons of the Kimberley coast, the spectacular Horizontal Falls where you'll enjoy an up-close and exhilarating ride through this natural phenomenon. In the afternoon take a scenic excursion along Cyclone Creek to marvel at the amazing rock formations.

Day 4: Collier Bay, Montgomery Reef, Red Cone Creek

Keen anglers will love this morning's early fishing expedition in Collier Bay, with the opportunity to catch the elusive Barramundi! The next stop is the 300km-long Montgomery Reef, which is Australia’s largest inshore reef. Watch as the tide falls right before your eyes, creating a spectacular waterfall effect. Take a tender ride to view many local marine species, including turtles and sea birds. This afternoon, enjoy a cruise past Raft Point and Steep Island to Red Cone Creek for a refreshing swim at Ruby Falls or try your luck at mud crabbing.

Day 5: Kuri Bay, Camden Harbour

Relax on board as Kimberley Quest II cruises past Augustus Island and the remote pearling settlement of Kuri Bay. At nearby Camden Harbour, visit the forlorn settler’s graves on Sheep Island and soak up the history of the first European settlement in the 1860s. In the afternoon the tenders will be available at your leisure for more exploration. You may wish to have a go at fishing or collecting rock oysters or simply enjoy a swim at a secluded beach. You'll be back on board in time to freshen up and take in another majestic Kimberley sunset.

Day 6: Prince Regent River, Kings Cascade

Today begins with a beautiful cruise through St George Basin, then past Mt Trafalgar and Mt Waterloo into the mouth of the stunning Prince Regent River, which is surrounded by near-vertical 50-metre-high cliffs, terraced waterfalls and ancient rock formations. Stopping at the famous Maamboolbadda King Cascades, climb above the terraced falls for an unforgettable swim in a massive crystal-clear pool where you'll be rewarded with panoramic views across the magnificent Prince Regent River in the distance. In the late afternoon join your guides for an excursion to Cathedral Falls where you may spot crocodiles and flying foxes. Alternatively, try your luck at catching a big Barra or Threadfin Salmon.

Day 7: Careening Bay, Roe River

Today visit Careening Bay, the site of an ancient boab tree first visited in 1820 by Phillip Parker King while on a hydrographic survey off of the Australian coastline. As you enjoy another delicious lunch on board, the ship will cruise up the Roe River where you can witness one of the highest crocodile populations in the Kimberley. Relax on board as the boat crosses scenic Prince Frederick Harbour to visit an ancient Wandjina art site before heading towards the Hunter River as the sun sinks below the Kimberley horizon.

Day 8: Mitchell Plateau to Broome

In the morning there's time to explore the spectacular Hunter River, one of the Kimberley's most scenic rivers. Sit back and relax as you spot ancient rock art, crocodiles and flying foxes from the tenders, soaking up the flora and fauna of the Kimberley for the last time. Depart the Kimberley Quest II by helicopter for a scenic flight over the Mitchell Falls. At the Mitchell Plateau airstrip, you will board a light aircraft and discover the immensity of the Kimberley on the return flight to Broome. Arriving by sunset, it's time to bid farewell as the Kimberley Quest team transfers you to your accommodation or the airport.
