      Day 1

Your private guide-driver will collect you from Launceston or from Saffire Freycinet (for those extending their 8 day Tasmanian journey) after breakfast to begin the picturesque drive to Cradle Mountain Lodge. Break up the journey with a scenic stop en route for a wine tasting, followed by a two-course lunch at Josef Chromy hatted restaurant. After checking in, the afternoon is yours to relax in your spacious spa suite, or you may wish to stretch your legs with one of the many short walk options accessible from the lodge. We recommend the Waterfalls Walk or the Enchanted Stroll for platypus spotting. Tonight is a free evening to dine in one of the Lodge's two restaurants - choose from the Tavern Bar & Bistro, or the Highland Restaurant, followed by a fireside nightcap.

      Day 2

After breakfast at the lodge, meet your private guide for today’s alpine hike to Crater Lake and Marion’s Lookout. Walking with your experienced guide you will be led towards the towering peaks of Cradle Mountain passing alpine lakes and abundant wildlife – particularly wombats – as you climb higher. Arriving at Marion’s Lookout is the perfect reward for tired legs, with dramatic alpine views overlooking the aptly named Crater Lake. Lunch is enjoyed on the trail today. After returning to the lodge this afternoon, you will have time to recuperate in your hot tub or perhaps visit the renowned Waldheim Alpine Spa (bookings recommended) to enjoy the spa facilities with panoramic views of the valley below. A free evening follows, which we recommend finishing with drink by the fire.

This is a two-hour loop walk, with opportunity to take in the Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park and World Heritage wilderness area. Lunch can be enjoyed at the café near the lake visitor centre, or back at the lodge before departure. You'll be picked up early afternoon for the two-hour private road transfer to Launceston where this journey concludes.
