Day 2

After a sleep-in, enjoy an incredible two-course breakfast in the Sequoia Lounge – or in-room if preferred. We recommend a self-guided walk after breakfast through the Mount Lofty Botanic Gardens, accessed from the lodge. Late morning, your driver will take you to Penfolds Magill Estate, one of Australia’s most famous wineries, for a private vineyard tour and tasting experience including Penfolds’ flagship Grange. Return to Sequoia Lodge for a late lunch in the Lounge. The afternoon is then yours to explore the Lodge and enjoy the guest facilities, including a soak in the private-use spring-fed hot pools, a massage treatment at the onsite Gatekeepers Spa (additional cost applies), or a walk in nearby Cleland National Park. Later, join fellow guests in the lounge or the outdoor deck overlooking the valley for Sequoia's signature "Lodge Welcome," including a glass of local wine. Tonight, enjoy a fine dining degustation experience at three-chef-hatted Hardy’s Verandah Restaurant, with sommelier-selected paired wines available at an additional cost.

Day 3

Enjoy a final breakfast at Sequoia before meeting your driver and guide for today’s journey to the south coast. After a scenic drive down the Fleurieu Peninsula, commence your private guided walk along Waitpinga Cliffs following one of the most scenic sections of the 1200km Heysen Trail through Newland Head Conservation Park. The trail abounds with coastal bushland, wildflowers and wildlife, and at the right time of year, you may spot whales migrating along the coast. Enjoy a packed trail lunch on the clifftops to break up the 3-4 hour experience. Later you’ll continue your journey toward Cape Jervis, stopping at Tapanappa Lookout in Deep Creek National Park. From the dramatic clifftops at Tapanappa, you’ll enjoy panoramic views up and down the south coast, with a resident family of kangaroos sure to appear. Continue to Cape Jervis where you will farewell your guide before boarding the 4 pm ferry to Kangaroo Island. Upon disembarking, you’ll be transferred to Southern Ocean Lodge, arriving in time for a pre-dinner drink with fellow guests in the Great Room, which has a remarkable view of the island’s coast.

Later this morning, you’ll be dropped at the trailhead with your private guide for a 4-5 hour hike on the Kangaroo Island Wilderness Trail from Remarkable Rocks back to Southern Ocean Lodge. This 13km walk takes in panoramic clifftop views, with limestone and granite headlands contrasting with the turquoise water below. Enjoy a packed trail lunch in a picturesque cove where you can watch seals play, before completing your hike at the lodge mid-afternoon. There is time for a dip in the lodge's plunge pools or sauna before pre-dinner drinks and canapes tonight, followed by another wonderful three-course dinner with South Australian wines.
