Insider Journeys: Cape to Cape Walk
Learn more about the highlights of enjoying the Cape to Cape Walk in the cooler months, from the experience of some of our team members who recently joined our signature hike
By Walk into Luxury
A perfect blend of adventure and luxury. It’s a great opportunity to connect with nature and create memories that will last a lifetime
Our signature walk
One of the Great Walks of Australia, our Signature 4 Day Cape to Cape Walk offers the perfect blend of adventure and indulgence in Western Australia's Margaret River region. It is also where the Walk into Luxury story began, some 10+ years ago, and is a today a multi-award winning walk much-loved by our guests and team.
As happens most years, in 2024 several of the WiL team had the chance to experience our signature walk first-hand. Here is their account of what it's like to hike the Cape to Cape Track in true Walk into Luxury style.

What we loved
Each day, we hiked a scenic section of the iconic Cape to Cape Track, taking in breathtaking coastal cliffs, white-sand beaches, and ancient karri forests. In the afternoons we returned to our luxurious private villa, where we could take a dip in our oceanfront heated plunge pool or enjoy a glass of wine by the fireplace. It was the perfect mix of nature and some plush comforts that left us relaxed and feeling thoroughly spoilt.
We loved that the experience felt effortless from start to finish - every detail was taken care of, from the gourmet meals to transportation and even the little things, like spare rain jackets for those of us (like me!) who didn’t pack quite right.
We may be biased, but our fabulous guides truly stood out – friendly, accommodating, so knowledgeable and respectful of the rich history, plant and wildlife. They made the effort to tailor conversations to each guest and made everyone feel welcome and a part of the group.

The landscapes along the track were breathtaking. For me, the mix of scenery – coastal cliffs, tranquil forests with towering eucalypts, and serene beaches – was a highlight. Each day felt like stepping into a different scene, and I found a deep sense of connection to nature along the way.

The accommodation at Injidup took the experience to the next level. Returning to our own private villa after a day of hiking to soak in the plunge pool or relax by the fireplace was the ultimate indulgence.

Lastly, it was hard not to love the incredible dining experiences and Margaret River wines – the long lunch at Vasse Felix to finish the trip was a particular highlight, tasting the icon series of wines felt like the perfect last toast to a great four days.
What surprised us?
Walking in June, I initially worried that the cooler weather would hinder the experience, but it turned out to be a highlight. If you're walking at this time, I'd recommend layers! Learning about the six distinct Noongar seasons was so interesting - June is considered the beginning of Makuru, the season of fertility, when the animals begin pairing for the upcoming breeding season, the winds get colder and the weather wetter. Despite a little rain, the days were ideal for hiking - mostly clear and warm as soon as the sun broke out.

The guides always ensured a pace that was comfortable and catered to everyone in the group, with their entertaining stories and well-timed jokes giving you an opportunity for a breather and to take in the incredible scenery. The extra little bits they do for guests (I won't spoil it!) make the walk a truly memorable experience.
Arguably the best part - after a day of walking, wining and dining - returning to your villa and getting cosy with the heated plunge pool (in winter), under-floor heating and gas fireplace.

Recommended experiences
The food just kept getting better and better, culminating on the final day with a wine tasting and lunch at Vasse Felix. It’s the perfect way to cap off the journey with your new friends – the food and wine are incredible, and the setting is just as memorable.

If you have the time, I’d recommend adding on a few extra days in Margaret River before or after the walk. A pre or post walk luxury stay in Perth is another great option, with the Como Treasury the perfect place for a massage treatment with its sought-after COMO Shambhala Spa located onsite.
