Albany is located on WA's south coast, a few hours south-east of Margaret River and four hours from Perth. Albany receives more rain days in the non-winter months than Perth, but being on the coast weather fronts tend to pass quickly so if it’s a showery morning you may be enjoying the sunshine again in the afternoon. The whales arrive along Albany and WA’s South Coast a little earlier than in Margaret River, with the first whales commonly spotted in late May.

For best walking conditions in Albany we recommend Autumn (March to May) and Spring (Sept to Nov). Early December is also quite pleasant but temperatures can rise into mid thirties over Summer so consider how much walking you plan to do while in Albany and the conditions you are used to. If you prefer swimming to hiking, January to March is the ideal time to enjoy Denmark and Albany's pristine bays.
