Overview
Los Glaciares National Park, situated in Argentina's Santa Cruz Province, features a cool, temperate climate with significant variations due to its diverse topography. The western sections of the park receive substantial precipitation, supporting dense forests and glaciers, while the eastern areas are drier, characterized by Patagonian steppe.
Temperatures
- Summer (December to February): Average highs around 18°C to 20°C (64°F to 68°F) and lows about 6°C to 8°C (43°F to 46°F).
- Autumn (March to May): Temperatures decrease, with highs ranging from 15°C to 10°C (59°F to 50°F) and lows from 4°C to 1°C (39°F to 34°F).
- Winter (June to August): Average highs approximately 5°C to 8°C (41°F to 46°F) and lows around -1°C to -5°C (30°F to 23°F).
- Spring (September to November): Temperatures rise, with highs between 10°C to 15°C (50°F to 59°F) and lows from 1°C to 5°C (34°F to 41°F).
Rainfall
Precipitation varies significantly within the park, with the western areas receiving up to 7,000 mm annually, while the eastern regions receive less than 800 mm.
