Temperatures

  • Summer (June to August): At elevations around 1,500 meters (4,921 feet), daytime highs range from 15°C to 25°C (59°F to 80°F), with nighttime lows between 5°C and 10°C (41°F to 50°F).
  • Winter (December to February): Temperatures can drop significantly, with daytime highs around -5°C to 0°C (23°F to 32°F) and nighttime lows reaching -15°C (5°F) or lower.
  • Spring (March to May): Temperatures range from -2°C to 14°C (28.4°F to 57.2°F).
  • Autumn (September to November): Temperatures range from 10°C to 18°C (50°F to 64.4°F).

Rainfall

The region receives substantial precipitation, particularly on the Sea of Japan side, due to orographic lift. Annual precipitation varies but can exceed 3,000 mm (118 inches) in some areas, with heavy snowfall during winter months contributing to deep snowpacks.
