1Overview
Overview

Experience some of the South Island's most scenic alpine views on this guided walk on the Key Summit section of the Routeburn Track, one of New Zealand's Great Walks. The well-maintained track ascends through native beech forest, sub-alpine shrublands, and alpine tarns, home to native birdlife, including tomtits, robins, New Zealand pigeons and bellbirds. At the summit, you’ll be rewarded with panoramic views of mountains, alpine lakes, and deep, glacially carved bush-clad valleys. This day hike includes a picnic lunch, an experienced local guide and transfers between the trailhead and Te Anau.

We also recommend the Routeburn Shelter to Routeburn Flats section of the track, available as a day hike as part of a custom itinerary from Queenstown, or as part of our Blanket Bay Walk.
