The walk begins in Nara Park, where you’ll be greeted by the park’s friendly free-roaming deer, considered sacred messengers of the gods in local folklore. Your guide will share stories of Nara’s ancient role as Japan’s first capital, setting the tone for the walk. As you approach Todaiji, the immense Great Southern Gate appears, offering a preview of the Temple’s grandeur. Inside, the awe-inspiring Daibutsu, a towering bronze Buddha – one of the world’s largest – stands as the centrepiece of this UNESCO World Heritage site.
