Discover Kyoto's best temples together with the historic Gion District and Philopsher's Trail on this private day out

1Overview
Overview

Discover the rich cultural heritage and unique architecture of Kyoto on our signature private tour, which combines visits to the best templates and shrines with time exploring the historic Gion District and Philosopher's Path. Visit Kiyumizu-dera (Pure Water Temple) one of Kyoto's World-Heritage Listed temples of cultural and architectural significance, which also offers a panoramic view over Kyoto. The Gion District is next, where you will discover the narrow alleyways filled with traditional ochaya (teahouses) where Kyoto's geisha frequent. One of the most popular areas is Hanami-koji Street, which runs from Shijo Avenue to Kenninji Temple, with many well-preserved teahouses lining narrow walkways. Shirakawa canal is another must-visit stop in Gion. You will have time to explore on your own, and perhaps choose a cafe here for lunch. Later, we recommend a stroll along the Philosopher's Path, which follows a cherry tree-lined canal that leads to Nazenji temple. The path is named after philosopher Nishida Kitaro, who meditated here on his walks to Kyoto University. This flexible itinerary can be tailored to your preferences by your local driver on the day, subject to time limitations. Popular extra options include a photo stop at Fushimi-Inari torii gates and a visit to the Kinka-kuji (the Golden Temple).
