1Overview
Overview

This private guided mountain lakes hike to Lake Kirikomi and Lake Karikomi is a unique adventure through the untouched wilderness of Oku-Nikko, a hidden gem of Nikko National Park. Beginning at Yumoto Onsen, the trail winds past emerald lakes and through ancient forests shaped by volcanic forces. Among the highlights of the walk is Mt Mitsudake, which is visible throughout as the trail weaves around its base, and Karenuma Swamp (meaning "dry swamp"), an open prairie-like area featuring pretty alpine flowers in the early summer and colourful foliage in the fall. The hike concludes at Kotoku Onsen, a rural village near Lake Chuzenji. With moderate climbs and unique alpine landscapes, this hike gets you far away from the tourist trail and is sure to be a highlight of your time in Nikko National Park.
