Discover the natural beauty and historic sites of Yoshino on a private guided walk in Japan's Kii Mountains, including a visit to World-Heritage Listed Kinpusen-ji Temple
Explore the natural beauty and historic sites of Mount Yoshino on a private guided walk starting at Miyataki Falls by the Yoshino River. Learn of the origins of one of the Kumano Kodo pilgrim paths, the Omine-Okugake trail, and view the great Omine mountain range from the top of Mount Yoshino. Starting from Miyataki Falls, your guide will lead you through ancient cedar forests to Sakuragi Shrine and Takataki Falls, eventually emerging onto Mount Yoshino proper. The view from the top offers glimpses of the rugged Omine ranges, frequented by the fascinating 'yamabushi' mountain hermits who have practiced in and around Mount Yoshino for centuries. An undoubted highlight of your day will be the visit to World-Heritage listed Kinpusen-ji, a Shugendo buddhist Temple, which is also home to Japan's second-largest wooden structure.
Available year-round (subject to safety/weather conditions). If you are visiting in April, you can expect cherry blossoms on display at Mount Yoshino, which is a local Hanami (cherry blossom) viewing hotspot.
