Mt. Hotaka in Japan's Northern Alps offers an exhilarating blend of adventure and breathtaking scenery. The Shin-Hotaka Ropeway takes you to nearly 2,200 metres in Japan’s Northern Alps, offering stunning views from its double-decker gondolas. At the top, enjoy sweeping 360° panoramas from the observation deck. From here you can hike to Nishiho Sanso mountain hut led by your mountain guide, ascending to 2,367 metres through a coniferous forest. After a short break, continue for 15 minutes through rocky terrain to a spectacular viewpoint showcasing the majestic peak of Mount Hotaka. Retrace your steps to the station and relax on the Ropeway back to Station 2, where your driver awaits. Lunch options are available at the ropeway stations and Nishiho Hut.

The hike is only available between June and September and is recommended for keen hikers; outside of these dates, or if you prefer, this experience is available with the scenic ropeway and viewpoints minus the hike.

The Mount Hotaka Ropeway and viewpoints are accessible year-round (subject to occasional closures due to weather or maintenance). The guided mountain hike from the top of the ropeway is available from June to September.
