Nestled in the mountains of Nikko, the Hangetsu Observation Deck offers stunning views of Lake Chuzenji and the towering Mount Nantai. The deck, whose name means "Half Moon," provides a unique crescent-shaped view of the lake, and is accessed on a one hour return walk commencing about two-thirds of the way up the mountain. Particularly beautiful in Autumn, when the surrounding trees turn vibrant shades of red and gold, this peaceful spot is a great addition to a day exploring Nikko National Park. On your way back down the mountain, stop at a second viewpoint over Lake Chuzenji and Mount Nantai.
