Starting at Daimon-Gate, a two story tall, crimson gate that marks the traditional spiritual entrance to Koyasan, your private guide will lead you on a custom walking tour away from the typical tourist trail to hike a section of the Nyonin-Michi pilgrim trail, which takes you into the hills above the town of Koyasan. Learn about the history of this trail, before arriving at scenic Rokura Pass, offering views of the surrounding Kii Mountains and challenging Kohechi route of the Kumano Kodo. From here, you will understand Koyasan's role as a key centre of the Kumano Kodo network of trails that pass through the remote Kii mountains.
