Nestled in Japan's Northern Alps, Kamikochi Valley offers gentle trails alongside the crystal-clear waters of the Azusa River, making it accessible for all levels. The views from the valley floor are jaw-dropping, with views of towering peaks like Mount Hotaka and Mount Yakedake emerging at various viewpoints along the riverside trails including iconic Kappa-bashi bridge. Self-guided walks in Kamikochi are made simple with easy-to-navigate loop trails to tranquil spots such as Taisho Pond and - in the opposite direction - Myojin Pond. Both are known for their mirror-like reflections and picturesque mountain backdrops. The valley’s serene beauty, diverse wildlife, and rugged landscapes make it the perfect place for any nature-lover to spend a day.

Available mid-April to early November. Kamikochi is a seasonal mountain town and not accessible in the cooler months which experience heavy snowfall.
