The heart of Chiloé lies in the traditional stilt houses, grand churches and local craft markets of Castro. The city of Castro was used as an entry point to capture the island as an extension of the mainland in the 16^th century and is filled with history and cultural influences. Next visit the San Francisco Church, a National Historic Monument and UNESCO World Heritage Site, before continuing to the coastal shipyard.
