Housed within a restored 17th-century kominka farmhouse overlooking the Kiso Valley, Zenagi is an exclusive use villa with in-house chef, sommelier and host offering a truly personalised luxury stay

1Overview
Overview

Perched on the hilltop of a traditional farm village, surrounded by the forests and rivers of Japan's Kiso Valley, Zenagi offers a personalised stay in a private villa available exclusively to one group at a time (up to six adults). The property features a spacious living area, three large bedrooms each with plush futon platform beds and large ensuite, a private dining pavilion and large outdoor terraces. The Zenagi team will ensure you are well-looked after during your stay, with dinner and breakfast included in your stay and showcasing native ingredients expertly prepared in the Kaiseki style by the award-winning in-house chef. Your personal sommelier is on-hand to recommend the perfect sake or wine to pair with your meal. Staying here is like visiting the most exceptional museum, with the buildings originally constructed as a traditional Japanese kominka farm-house for a notable family during the Edo period, and featuring a number of significant artefacts. The interior furnishings strike a balance between modern comforts - the exceptional cedar tubs and open shower rooms are a hit - and the traditional - with the walls covered in washi paper and furniture handmade by local craftsmen. Zenagi is an experience, not just somewhere to stay; a fitting base for our Kiso Valley Nakesendo journeys.
