Sleep under the stars at Arkaba's eco-friendly walking camps at some of the most scenic locations on the Arkaba conservancy

1Overview
Overview

Located in some of the most scenic spots in the conservancy, these eco-friendly camps have been built exclusively for guests of the signature Arkaba Walk to blend seamlessly with the surrounding landscape, offering stunning views from every corner. You'll sleep in deluxe swags on a timber platform with half-metre corrugated iron screens to the sides for privacy, with the front left opening to the views over the countryside. Each bed platform has been fitted with a sheltered area towards the back for use in the case of inclement weather. Composting toilets and bush showers with water warmed on the fire complete the Arkaba camp experience. The two camps featured on the Arkaba Walk are Black's Gap (night 1) and Elder Camp (night 2).

What to pack for a lodge and eco-camp-based walk in South Australia's outback

Your main luggage will be stored at the Homestead. You will be given a soft carry bag to place your overnight gear for the eco-camp nights; this will be transported between camps. On the track each day, you will carry a day pack (small backpack) with your lunch and snacks, water, waterproof and warm layers, and other personal items.
